A Liberal Academy for young European future Leaders took place last week on 4th and 5th of June in Helsinki, Finland and Tallinn, Estonia and brought together young liberals from all over Europe. There were participants from liberal nongovernmental organizations and think tanks from ten different countries- Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Rumania, Sweden, UK and Ukraine. From the Bulgarian part there was a representative of the Liberal Institute for Political Analysis (LIPA). The Academy is organized by the European Liberal Forum (ELF), supported by Tanksmedjan Magma rf. and Academy of Liberalism and co-funded by the European Parliament. The first half of the program was divided between Helsinki, Finland and Tallinn, Estonia, whereas the third part is going to be held in Brussels in July. In Helsinki the lectures were focused on the challenges and opportunities of freedom of speech in Europe today. Different speakers made their presentations concerning different aspects of the freedom of speech in relation to religion, hate speech, censorship and propaganda. Special highlight was put on the terrorist attacks in France and Denmark this year as well as the developments in Russia. The second part of the module which took place in Tallinn was called "Roadmap to Liberal E-urope: Designing IT for a wealthier and healthier Europe. Estonian politicians and IT specialist held speeches about the Estonian example of an E-society, the benefits of e-innovations in public sector and the future of e-governments.
